Delhi High Court : Raised concern on medical infrastructure of national capital 8

The Division Bench consisting of acting CJ Manmohan and Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora was hearing a Suo Moto Public Intrest Litigation filed in 2017 on the issue of availability of ICU beds and Ventilator facilities in government hospitals and raised concern on the difficult situation of medical infrastructure in government hospitals in national capital.
The court questioned the Delhi Government
- How was it possible to have a shortage of beds in four government hospitals?
The Court directed
- Last month, the court asked to make a report that indicates how the Delhi government can make plans to ensure medical infrastructure.
- Now the Court directed the creation of a Central Portal that indicates the real no. of beds available.
- Earlier, the Delhi High Court also directed to operation of a control room for providing information about the availability of beds.

In this case, amicus curiae Advocate Ashok Aggarwal cited the latest incident in which a man who was seriously injured died after jumping from a moving PCR van as four government hospitals refused to treat that patient due to a shortage of facility.
